Ayurveda
Ayurveda is a traditional Indian medicine. It literally means ‘science of life’. In the Ayurveda, a central place is given to the balance between the three fundamental energies or to influence dosha’s through nutrition. In the Ayurveda, the use of herbs is not meant to give a delicious taste, but also to stimulate appetite and to promote digestion. These beneficial herbs are widely used in our kitchen. An example is turmeric. It enhances digestion, improves metabolism and helps digest proteins.
Shiva
Shiva, one of the oldest and most worshiped gods of Hinduism, has different forms of appearance. As ‘Nataraya’, the king of dance, he controls the organization and movement of the entire cosmos. The even rhythm of his dance moves the universe through which life can manifest itself in all its diversity. Balancing on one foot and dancing in a circle of flames, he is in fact ruler of life and death. The flame circle around Shiva is energy in its purest form, but also the cremation fire. He stands with one foot on the dwarf of ignorance, with his other foot he indicates the liberation of suffering.
Nataraya
Of the four arms of Nataraj, the fire in the left palm symbolizes the ability to destroy the universe. The drum in his right hand symbolizes the connection with the male and female and indicates that the sound is the source of creation. The lower right hand indicates its ability to end infinite suffering. The down pointing left hand stands for redemption from ignorance.
